Training Ride - Ben's Post

Pete and I just finished a nice training ride. We covered just over 40 miles. It was an excellent shakedown cruise for the new bikes. We did a good amount of stopping and adjusting seat height and angles. Pete even learned the hazards of clip in pedals. I looked away for a second, I look back and he is lying in the road in front of my house. Apparently he clipped in one side, his bike "mis-shifted" and he fell down. Then he tried to blame the "mis-shift" on the fact that I was working on adjusting his rear derailler previous to the incident. On a happy note, he didn't scratch the paint on his brand new bike. Other things I saw lying in the road.

-several dead possums and squirrels.
-a skunk body and tail lying several feet apart.

Time for a shower and dinner.

Tomorrow we ride to NYC from Wallingford, CT. I hope Pete can stay on his bike for the whole ride.
